Deepak Sharma has a Masters degree in Computer Applications. Has worked for three years at a private company in Noida. He has always wanted to work for the government. He likes the idea of a job, good pay, and no risk of sudden job loss. He wants stability, which he didn’t feel in his sector IT job in Delhi-NCR after the 2024 layoffs.
A colleague sent him a notification about NBEMS recruitment on June 13. His first question was, what does NBEMS do?
That’s a question. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences is not well-known even though it’s part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
NBEMS conducts entrance exams like NEET-PG, DNB, and FNB. It also manages exams for two lakh medical candidates every year. Such a big operation needs people.
They need administrators, accountants, programmers, stenographers, and assistants. Now 53 positions are empty.
The notification. Advt. No. A-12011/3/2025-EST B. Was released on June 13, 2026.
People can apply online from June 29.
The exam is planned for September 5 and 6, 2026.

What is on offer?
There are fifty-three posts that are spread across three categories, which are Group A, Group B, and Group C. These fifty-three posts are for five types of jobs:
Deputy Director (Medical) this is the Group A post. It requires a postgraduate medical qualification recognized under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Not a post for everyone, but for a medical PG looking for a central government career outside clinical practice, this is one of the more interesting options available right now.
Junior Programmer falls in Group B. This is where Deepak fits computer science or IT graduates with relevant qualifications. NBEMS handles large-scale examination technology; the Junior Programmer role feeds directly into that.
Junior Accountant, also Group B. Commerce graduates with the right educational background. Financial management in a central government autonomous body regular work, defined scope, government pay structure.
Stenographer, Group C. Shorthand at 80 words per minute, typing at 30 words per minute. 10+2 pass. For candidates with strong stenographic skills, central government steno positions remain among the most stable clerical careers available.
Junior Assistant, Group C. The largest share of vacancies sits here. 10+2 pass, basic computer proficiency. Entry-level, but entry into a permanent central government position, which is a different thing entirely from an entry-level private sector job.
The exact vacancy split across categories and posts will be in the detailed notification. The short notice published June 13 confirms the posts and the timeline. The detailed PDF from natboard.edu.in will carry everything else.

The qualification requirements vary significantly by post, which is one of the more interesting things about this recruitment it covers candidates from 12th pass all the way to medical postgraduates.
For Deputy Director (Medical): A postgraduate medical degree from an institution recognized under the Indian Medical Council Act. Additional preference may be given to candidates with experience in question paper generation or candidate performance analysis. The NBEMS notification hints at this without making it a hard requirement.
Age limit for this post: 18 to 35 years.
For a junior programmer: To be a junior programmer, you need a degree in computer science or something similar, like IT. The notice that comes out later will say if they accept MCA, B.Tech, or BCA degrees or if it makes a difference which one you have. The detailed notification will tell you about it.
For Junior Accountant: A commerce degree. B.Com is the typical requirement for similar posts in central government organizations. Confirm in the detailed notification.

Age limit for all posts except Deputy Director (Medical): 18 to 27 years. Age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, and other reserved categories applies as per central government rules. Ex-servicemen, government employees, and other special categories also get relaxation as applicable the detailed notification will carry the full table.
The application, what to actually do
The portal opens June 29 at natboard.edu.in. That is the official website. Not any site that appears above it in a Google search. Not a link sent on WhatsApp. The official website.
Registration is the step. You need a working number and email address. These will get your login details. Keep them safe so you do not lose them. If you cannot log in after registration, you have to contact support. This takes time you might not have before the deadline.
After registration log in. Complete the application form.
- You need to fill in your details.
- Educational qualification is required.
- You have to select a category.
- Post preference is also needed.
Every field must match your documents exactly.
Your name on the form must match your certificate, not your Aadhaar card or college ID.
Your 10th certificate is what gets verified.
Upload a photograph and signature in the format and size the notification specifies. Photograph: recent, clear background, no sunglasses, no cap. Signature: on plain white paper, clean. Files that exceed the size limit get rejected by the portal automatically.
You need to pay the application fee online. You can use a debit card or a credit card or net banking or UPI to pay the application fee. The application fee amounts will be in the notification.
If you are a category candidate, you may not have to pay the application fee. So you should check the notification before you pay the application fee or assume that you do not have to pay it.
You should review the form before you submit it. Once you submit the application form you will not be able to make corrections. So you should be careful when you fill out the application form.
After you submit the application form, you should download the confirmation page. Then you should print the confirmation page. You should store the confirmation page somewhere safe so you can find it when you need it, like three months from now.

Selection
Written examination first. For most posts this will be an objective-type paper covering general intelligence, quantitative aptitude, English, and subject-specific sections relevant to the post applied for. The Junior Programmer paper will lean into computer fundamentals. The Junior Accountant paper will include accounting and commerce questions. The stenographer selection additionally includes a skill test in shorthand and typing.
After the written exam, candidates who make the merit cut go to document verification. Originals of everything submitted online will be checked at this stage. A certificate that was valid when you applied but has expired by the time verification happens can become a problem. Keep originals in order throughout the process.
Final appointment follows successful verification.
Pay
Exact pay scales will be confirmed in the detailed notification. Central government Group A positions typically fall in the ₹56,100 and above range under Level 10 or higher of the 7th Pay Commission matrix. Group B posts generally range from ₹35,400 upward. Group C posts start around ₹19,900 to ₹25,500 depending on the post.
Beyond basic pay, central government employees receive a dearness allowance, house rent allowance, transport allowance, medical benefits, and access to the National Pension System. The total compensation package, when allowances are included, is considerably higher than the basic pay figure alone.
For many candidates, though, it is the permanence that matters most. Sarkari naukri mein jo security hai, private jobs rarely offer that. The 53 posts here are regular, permanent appointments. Not contractual, not on deputation, not fixed-term. Regular.
Documents to prepare now
10th and 12th certificates and mark sheets. Degree or diploma certificates relevant to the post being applied for. A valid government photo identity document Aadhaar, PAN, passport, or voter ID. Category certificate if you belong to SC, ST, OBC, EWS, or PwBD and it is issued by the competent authority at the correct level. Experience certificate if the post requires work experience. A recent passport-size photograph. A clean signature on white paper.
Gather these now, before June 29. Scanning documents the night before registration opens is how errors happen.
Preparation
September 5 and 6 is roughly ten weeks from the application window opening. That is enough time to prepare well if used properly.
Find the official syllabus in the detailed notification it will specify exactly what subjects each post’s exam covers. Build your study plan from that document, not from general assumptions about what government exams test.
Previous NBEMS exam papers are not widely available because this organization does not conduct recruitment drives frequently. For the aptitude and general sections, UPSC, SSC, and similar central government exam papers serve as reliable practice material. For post-specific sections, use standard textbooks for your subject computer fundamentals for programmers and accounting principles for junior accountants.
The skill test for a stenographer is entirely about practice speed. Eighty words per minute in shorthand is not achieved in a week. If you are applying for that post, start the shorthand practice immediately.
One thing worth saying clearly
NBEMS does not run recruitment drives every year. The last time they announced posts at this scale across groups A, B, and C was some years ago. For candidates whose qualifications match, whether that is a 12th pass looking for a junior assistant position or a medical PG exploring non-clinical government careers, this notification is worth the time to read carefully.
Read the detailed notification on natboard.edu.in when it is published. Check every eligibility condition against your own documents. Apply early. Prepare from the syllabus.
The exam is in September. The application window opens June 29. Both dates are close enough that starting now today makes a real difference.
